Former Taoyuan City Mayor and Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Zheng Wen-Can, was arrested by Taoyuan prosecutors on suspicion of corruption. After more than 16 hours of marathon questioning, he was remanded in custody early this morning and later granted bail of 5 million by the Taoyuan District Court, with restrictions on his movements. Zheng denied any wrongdoing and expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation, hoping to prove his innocence. He has been questioned regarding land alteration cases during his term as mayor. The court found insufficient grounds for detention due to the case's age, allowing him to be released on bail.
