A 60-year-old caretaker in Japan was brutally attacked with a knife by a 35-year-old ex-convict in his own restaurant, sustaining 10 stab wounds and ultimately dying from hemorrhagic shock. The offender was arrested by the police and taken into custody. This incident took place in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, with the caretaker, Shinjo Hiroshi, being a restaurant owner at Biwako Otsukan. The suspect, Iizuka Kohei, was found to live only 1 km away from the victim's residence. The offender had a history of robbery in 2018 and ended up under the care of Hiroshi as a result. This tragic event marked the first reported instance of a caretaker being killed by a ex-convict in Japan since 1964.
