On July 5, 2024, in Shandong Province, China, a tornado struck causing extensive damage to homes, resulting in at least 1 death and 79 injuries. Strong convective weather affected Shandong as the tornado struck on the afternoon of the 5th. Terrifying footage captured by residents showed debris like metal sheets, glass, and household items being blown into the sky, including overturned cars and shattered balcony windows with aluminum frames missing. Local government swiftly set up an emergency command post for rescue operations, while the exact casualties and damage are still being assessed.
