Shohei Ohtani's Former Interpreter Ippei Mizuhara Pleads Guilty to Fraud Charges

Former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara, who worked with baseball star Shohei Ohtani, pleaded guilty to bank and tax fraud charges in California, admitting to stealing nearly $17 million from Ohtani to pay off sports betting debts. Mizuhara faces up to 33 years in prison and is required to repay the stolen amount to Ohtani, as well as over $1 million to the IRS. Ohtani, exonerated of any wrongdoing by MLB, expressed gratitude for the investigation's completion and has moved forward with his team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, in pursuit of a World Series title.
