After Kippei Mizuhara, the former translator of MLB Los Angeles Dodgers' star player Shohei Ohtani, was caught gambling, a Japanese textbook publisher replaced the content about Mizuhara in junior high school English textbooks with an introduction to the national team chef, Yoshiteru Nishi. Mizuhara admitted to transferring nearly 17 million USD (about 550 million NTD) from Ohtani's account to repay gambling debts. The textbook content was modified after Mizuhara's involvement in illegal gambling was revealed, showcasing Yoshiteru Nishi, who has been serving as the national team's chef for 18 years, in the revised version.
