According to reports from mainland China, news circulated online that a researcher at Shopee's R&D department in Shenzhen suddenly collapsed in the office and passed away despite emergency medical efforts. An employee revealed that starting this year, they have been working overtime until 9 or 10 pm without getting paid for the extra hours. Chinese netizens speculate it might be a case of death from overwork. Shopee's R&D department in Shenzhen has yet to provide an explanation on the matter.
