On July 1, 2024, at 7:01 p.m., a fire in the Qingkonghui community in Hsinchu City on May 26 caused the death of 2 firefighters. The investigation revealed a possible major disaster due to a short circuit in the power wiring between the pipelines. The community's SCIP committee issued a statement expressing 4 concerns, including the adequacy of fire inspections and the compliance of electrical cable construction between the pipelines. The city government responded by clarifying that the fire inspection scope did not cover the electrical wiring between the pipelines, and they have requested guidance from the authorities. The community is particularly concerned about the shared cable between general power and emergency power systems, which contributed to the fire incident, urging the authorities to discuss enhancing safety regulations for power system wiring.
