The hospitality industry in Taoyuan is facing a severe labor shortage, particularly in housekeeping, with nearly 30% of positions vacant. The Taoyuan City government attributes this to low salaries and lack of flexible working hours, making it unattractive to young people. To address this, a job fair called 'Youth and Silver Generation Co-creation' will be held on Friday with over 800 job openings from 20 companies, targeting individuals aged 45 to 65 and offering salaries up to 60,000 NTD, hoping for an 80% matchmaking rate. The industry is struggling post-pandemic, and despite efforts to recruit new talents, utilizing experienced mid-aged and retired workers has become crucial. The government aims to improve labor conditions in the sector to make it more appealing, while also organizing recruitment events to fill the vacancies.
