This initiative involves concerns over the feasibility of extending the Banqiao Line to Zhangshu Bay, addressing issues related to the third rail of Taiwan Railways, land acquisition along the route, and road width. Legislators will hold a public hearing to gather more public opinions and reach consensus. An online petition has gained over 5,000 endorsements, advocating for the extension of the Banqiao Line over the current plans for the Keelung MRT, which only reaches the boundary of Taipei and New Taipei City, not going deeper into Taipei City.
