Side Sleeping Best for Detox and Pain Prevention, Study Shows

A good night's sleep is crucial for health, and according to neurologist Chen Weida, side sleeping is the best sleeping position as recent studies have shown that during deep sleep, the brain's glymphatic system helps detox the brain efficiently, with side sleeping promoting this detox process. For those who cannot side sleep, it is recommended to sleep on their back. To prevent chronic pain, individuals can make lifestyle changes focusing on SEEDS: Sleep, Exercise, Eat, Diary, and Stress. It is advised to go to bed before 11 PM, sleep for 7-8 hours, with a minimum of 6 hours, preferably in a side sleeping position, or on the back for those with lumbar spine issues. Back sleeping is better than stomach sleeping if side sleeping is not possible.
