Significant Growth of Foreigners in Tokyo's 3 Central Districts, Chinese Rushing to High-rise Buildings in City Center, 25 Groups Viewing Property with 23 Groups from China

Reported 8 months ago

According to the Nikkei newspaper, in the past 5 years, the 'foreign population growth rate' in Tokyo's 23 special wards has significantly increased in the central districts of Chuo, Bunkyo, and Chiyoda. The affluent Chinese elite seeking high-rise living environments and educational facilities have shifted this trend from Shinjuku, Toshima, and Arakawa to the city center. The number of foreigners in the 23 wards has grown by nearly 100,000 to 573,890, a 1.2-fold increase compared to 5 years ago, while the Japanese population has stagnated at about 1.0 times. The primary reasons are the preferences of approximately 820,000 Chinese people, accounting for 1/4 of Japan's 3.41 million foreigners, leading to a rise in foreigners in central districts like Ginza, Nihonbashi, Bunkyo, and Chiyoda. Additionally, a notable number of Asian students from countries such as South Korea, Nepal, Vietnam, and Myanmar are also increasing in Tokyo's various districts.
