On May 21, 2024, a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER aircraft experienced severe turbulence, resulting in one fatality and several injuries among the passengers. Singapore Airlines announced compensation of $10,000 for each lightly injured passenger and $25,000 for the severely injured initially, with further compensation to be negotiated. The airline also offered full refunds and additional compensation for the delay to all passengers on the flight. Medical expenses were covered, and families were assisted in visiting the injured in Bangkok where the aircraft made an emergency landing due to the turbulence incident.
