On June 17, a confrontation erupted in the Ren'ai Ansha waters of the South China Sea between the Chinese Coast Guard and the Philippine Navy, resulting in several Filipino sailors being injured. Retired Major General Zhang Yanting disclosed that amidst the conflict, the US Navy's aircraft carriers left preemptively as they did not want to get involved, with both the Reagan and Roosevelt carriers heading away from the region. Reagan has arrived in Guam post Valiant Shield exercises, while Roosevelt moved north from the South China Sea. Zhang Yanting pointed out American prudence, as they aim not to be dragged into disputes between the Philippines and China, ensuring their carriers are engaged elsewhere.
