Slovakia's parliament has voted to approve a government plan to overhaul the public radio and television services, a move criticized for potentially giving the government full control of the media. The plan, led by Prime Minister Robert Fico, aims to replace the existing public broadcaster with a new organization known as Slovak television and radio (STVR). Critics, including opposition lawmakers, former President Zuzana Čaputová, and international media organizations, have raised concerns about government interference in media independence and democracy in Slovakia.
