Smuggling Bust: Coast Guard Seizes 460 Cases of Cigarettes Worth 15 Million in Market Value

The Taiwan Coast Guard broke a smuggling case and confiscated 460 cases of cigarettes, totaling 230,000 packs, worth approximately 15 million New Taiwan dollars. The coast guard received a tip-off about individuals planning to smuggle cigarettes into northern Taiwan via a fishing boat. After a thorough investigation, they successfully intercepted the smuggling operation in Keelung City, leading to the seizure of a large quantity of cigarettes. Seven individuals, including the captain of the fishing boat, were arrested and charged accordingly. The coast guard urges the public not to purchase cigarettes of unknown origin and to report any illegal activities for maintaining public safety.
