Taipei City councilor Hsien Hsiang-yin believes that social housing rentals should prioritize those in need such as the elderly and families with children, rather than merely relying on a lottery system. The proposed nationwide unified social housing rental fee classification system by the Ministry of the Interior aims to address subsidy misplacement issues and will base rent on demographics and level of disadvantage, with the lowest rent being 30% of market price. Hsien emphasized the importance of allocating social housing according to actual needs, specifically prioritizing families with infant care needs and seniors in need of elevators.
