In response to severe garbage accumulation and ineffective outsourcing in Nantou County, the county government plans to construct its own waste incineration plant with the support of the council. The county aims to address the long-term waste disposal issue by establishing this facility. Short-term measures include reducing waste at the source through initiatives like reducing plastic usage in traditional markets and disposable utensils in night markets as the county daily produces around 250 tons of garbage but only transports slightly over 100 tons daily. The incineration plant is seen as a permanent solution, but faces challenges related to site selection and public consultations.
