A man surnamed Qiu in New Taipei City ignored a restraining order and used a fishing hook to force his mother to kneel in front of a temple for money, threatening to revoke the protection order and proclaiming, 'There's no death penalty in Taiwan!' Onlookers were alarmed and reported the incident to the police. Qiu was subsequently prosecuted for violating the protection order, attempted extortion through threats, and contempt of court. Despite facing his mother's fear and refusal to comply, Qiu was arrested on the spot and charged accordingly by the Shilin District Prosecutors Office.
