Following a building fall accident in New Taipei City on June 26, 2024, police arrested 2 suspects and found out that the deceased, surnamed Yu, had joined a scam gang in 2018. He was suspected to have been a driver for the gang for several years, also engaged in online gambling, and rarely kept in touch with his family. Even his mother was unaware of his job. The main suspect's rented residence wasn't the first time an incident occurred, as it was suspected to be rented out as a boiler room for scam gangs, with complex personnel coming and going. Two suspects were arrested, including the main suspect, a 22-year-old unemployed man who confessed on the spot. The other two suspects are still on the run, with police continuing their pursuit.
