Sony is shifting its focus towards creativity in movies, animation, and video games rather than traditional gadgets, according to its chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida. The company aims to support creative professionals in delivering moving experiences through intellectual property spanning animation, music, games, and films. Sony has invested heavily in content creation and acquisitions, such as EMI Music Publishing and Crunchyroll, to strengthen its entertainment portfolio. Yoshida highlighted the company's real-time computing technology being utilized in various sectors, including sports events and entertainment production. Sony recently reported a rise in quarterly profit but a decline in annual profit, mainly due to a weak performance in its financial services segment.
