Sourav Sen: 40% of Minority Presidents Are Substantial Presidents

Reported 8 months ago

Sourav Sen, Executive Director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, commented that President Tsai Ing-wen’s style is confrontational and aggressive, and there will be no reconciliation between the ruling party and the opposition during her tenure. Despite only having 40% support, Tsai operates as a substantial president. Sen believes that Tsai is a practical advocate for Taiwan independence, practically turning the dual-head system into a de facto presidential system. He also noted that Tsai is the first president to give committees actual decision-making power, blurring the lines between executive and presidential authority. Sen concludes that Tsai's aggressive style is setting a precedent for future political strategies.
