South Korea unveiled a $19 billion support package for its chip industry to compete in the global semiconductor market 'warfare.' The package includes a financial support program worth about 17 trillion won to back investments by semiconductor companies, with President Yoon Suk Yeol emphasizing the importance of making cutting-edge semiconductors and closing the gap in chip design and manufacturing. The government aims to increase South Korea's market share in non-memory chips to 10% and is working on streamlining bureaucracy to speed up the construction of a mega chip cluster in Yongin.
