On Thursday, June 20, South Korea condemned the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and North Korea, warning that it poses a threat to South Korean security and will have a negative impact on South Korea's relationship with Russia. In response, Seoul will reconsider providing weapons to Ukraine to help counter Russian invasion. South Korea, being a significant arms exporter, will limit its aid to Ukraine to non-lethal resources only. South Korea plans to strengthen the US-South Korea alliance and trilateral security cooperation with the US and Japan to counter North Korea's nuclear and missile threats. Seoul has independently sanctioned four cargo ships, five entities, and eight individuals involved in weapons and oil transport between Russia and North Korea, imposing new export controls on 243 items in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
