Many countries are facing the crisis of declining birth rates, prompting South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol to announce the declaration of a 'population emergency.' With a first-quarter birth rate of only 0.76 this year, South Korea has implemented various measures including increasing parental leave benefits. In comparison, Taipei had a birth rate of 0.97 last year and is also working on strategies to address the issue. President Yoon stressed the need for a comprehensive response to overcome the low birth rate problem.
