Since June 10th, South Korea has been issuing heatwave alerts in multiple regions, with Seoul already hitting its highest temperature of the year at 33 degrees in mid-June. With people flocking to the beaches to cool off, the government is on high alert, opening spaces like banks and convenience stores as cooling centers and setting up cool waiting areas on the streets to prevent heat stroke. Various regions like Gyeonggi Province, South and North Jeolla Province, and more are under the fifth consecutive day of heatwave alerts, with some areas experiencing temperatures exceeding 36 degrees, leading to concerns of heat-related illnesses among farmworkers and the public.
