A fire broke out at a factory belonging to the lithium battery manufacturer Aricel in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, resulting in around 30 casualties on June 24, 2024. Shocking videos captured the terrifying scene of the fire, including explosions and smoke. The fire led to at least 23 casualties and missing persons, with 22 confirmed deaths, 8 injuries, and one person missing, involving Korean, Chinese, and Laotian nationals. The factory stored around 35,000 finished lithium batteries, and the blaze was finally extinguished by 3:10 PM with firefighters searching for survivors. Destroying five buildings overnight, a pet shop in Hualien turned into ruins, where a 17-year-old dog perished in the flames, and a fire incident at Micron Memory's Houli plant caused emergency evacuations due to a gas leak. In another tragic event, a fire at a karaoke establishment, Cashbox KTV, claimed six lives, and Lien Tai-sheng was found not guilty in the first trial, leading to the prosecution appealing against seven defendants.
