South Korea successfully appealed a ruling related to its merger dispute with Elliott Management over the 2015 Samsung merger, shortly after Samsung's Chairman Jay Y. Lee was cleared of charges related to the deal. Previously, a tribunal ordered South Korea to pay Elliott $100 million regarding the merger approval process, but the Court of Appeal has now sent the case back to the High Court to re-evaluate the tribunal's jurisdiction.
