The AriCell lithium battery factory in Hwaseong, South Korea, suffered a massive fire resulting in 23 deaths and casualties, with the majority being Chinese nationals. President Yoon Suk-yeol visited the site and called for an investigation into the cause of the fire, highlighting that the materials causing the fire hindered escape routes. This fire, categorized as a 'new type of fire,' was challenging to extinguish conventionally, with over 145 firefighters struggling for over four hours before containing the blaze. The factory, owned by SK Group, specializes in military-grade lithium batteries and employs workers mainly from China and Korea.
