South Korean Lithium Battery Factory Fire! 22 Dead, Over 20 Missing

A lithium battery factory in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, caught fire on June 24th, 2024, resulting in 22 confirmed deaths and over 20 people missing out of the 67 present at the time. Local government authorities mobilized a large number of firefighters to assist in extinguishing the fire, but experts noted the difficulty in extinguishing battery-caused fires that also produce toxic gases. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol instructed relevant agencies to provide full assistance in rescue efforts, with the cause of the incident still to be determined.
