Following South Korea's government announcement of healthcare reform policies in February, tens of thousands of resident doctors nationwide went on strike. The Korean Medical Association declared their participation in the 'collective withdrawal from duty' starting on the 18th. In response, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo expressed regret over the decision and reiterated that no disciplinary action would be taken against returning resident doctors. The association's actions aim to protest government healthcare and education monopolization policies.
