South Korean New Recruits Killed by Overtraining, New Regulation: Prohibits Armed Physical Training

Reported 9 months ago

A series of accidents occurred among South Korean Army new recruits in May, including a fatal incident where a new recruit died due to excessive training with a 40kg backpack in hot weather. To prevent such incidents, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense has banned the military from requiring new recruits to engage in armed physical training and plans to focus on military law education instead, taking into account the risk of heatstroke during summer training. The aim is to prevent tragedies and ensure recruit safety.
