According to data from the Korea Tourism Organization's 'Korea Tourism Data Lab,' the number of foreign visitors to South Korea from January to April this year reached 4.866 million, an 86.9% increase from the same period last year, with visitors from the United States, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore surpassing last year's figures. While China and Japan, as South Korea's top two foreign tourist countries, have only recovered to about 80%, the South Korean government aims to attract 20 million foreign tourists this year, potentially surpassing the highest record of 17.502 million set in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Taiwan, as South Korea's third-largest source of foreign tourists, saw 423,000 visitors, a 7.5% increase from the same period in 2019, while the U.S. and other countries also experienced growth.
