The trend of South Koreans climbing mountains to eat instant noodles has become popular recently, with many hikers bringing noodles to enjoy at the 1,700-meter-high peak of South Korea's tallest mountain, Hallasan. However, the leftover noodle containers and spilled soup at the mountaintop are causing environmental issues, such as land salinization and plant withering. Authorities are now cracking down on this behavior, urging visitors to finish their noodle soup or face fines of up to 200,000 Korean won (about 4,700 New Taiwan dollars).
