Southern Company CEO Expects More US Industry Nuclear Commitments by 2030

Reported 8 months ago

Southern Company CEO Chris Womack predicts an increase in industry commitments to build gigawatt-scale light water nuclear reactors in the United States before 2030. The company recently started commercial operations on its Vogtle 4 reactor, marking the first nuclear power plant construction in the country in over 30 years. Womack anticipates announcements in 2027 or 2028 for the construction of similar reactors, larger than advanced small modular reactors that are yet to be built in the US.
