Southern Korea Hit by Strongest Earthquake in Over 7 Years, Magnitude 4.8 Quake Shakes Walls and Windows with Explosive Sounds Reported

South Korea, where earthquakes are rare, experienced a magnitude 4.8 earthquake in Jeonbuk which was only 8 kilometers deep, causing cracked walls and windows with some residents feeling their buildings shake as if about to collapse. The tremor was felt across the country including in regions such as Gangwon Province, Chungcheong Province, and the Seoul metropolitan area. Although there were reports of explosive sounds resembling thunder during the earthquake, there were no casualties reported, just minor damages like cracked walls, shattered glass, and fallen tiles in the affected area.
