Southern Taiwan Hit by Strong Winds and Heavy Rain! Beer Festival Paused for an Hour, Tainan Flooded with 30cm of Water

Reported about 1 year ago

On the evening of July 7, a sudden and heavy rainstorm hit southern Taiwan, causing disruptions at the Kaohsiung beer festival, leading to a temporary pause of over an hour, and resulting in flooding in various areas of Tainan with water levels exceeding 30cm. Not only were potted plants submerged and car splash from passing vehicles, but even underground passages had to be urgently closed. The downpour, accompanied by strong winds and resembling a typhoon, continued well into the night, yet the beer festival resumed performances around 7 p.m., expected to last until the next day, despite the continuous light rain. Similar thunderstorms also occurred in Tainan with serious flooding, prompting emergency closures of roads and police assistance to manage the situation.
