The Miaoli County Police Department announced the top three fixed speed cameras that caught the most speeding violations in the first half of this year, with the champion located at 24.2 kilometers of Road 13 in Touwu Township. Within six months, this camera recorded 4,649 violations, potentially earning at least 5,577,880 NTD annually. The police also reported a total of 26,300 speeding violations in the county, with the top three areas being Touwu Township on Road 13, Gongyi Road in Zhunan Town, and 127.3 kilometers of Road 3 in Dahu Township. Additionally, there were 191 cases of drivers speeding over 40 kilometers per hour, with a highest recorded speed of 164 kilometers and a penalty of 36,000 NTD and a six-month license suspension. Due to stricter speed management, there has been a 60% decrease in fatalities caused by speeding accidents compared to the previous year, showing that speed control measures are effective in promoting safer driving habits. The Miaoli Police Chief Chen Shih-huang reminded the public, especially with the upcoming summer travel season, to adhere to speed limits to ensure safety on the roads.
