Spirit Airlines has announced plans to cut 200 jobs as part of a cost-reduction strategy following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in November. The airline, which faced significant debt and competitive pressures, aims to align its workforce with its current operational capacity. Despite these layoffs being separate from the bankruptcy process, they are intended to help the airline achieve its target of $80 million in annual cost savings. Spirit hopes to emerge from bankruptcy in early 2025, amid efforts to restructure and streamline its operations.
