Start of Typhoon Season: Analysis by Zheng Mingdian Indicates Fewer Typhoons This Year

Reported 12 months ago

Beginning the official definition of the typhoon season, meteorologist Zheng Mingdian explains that as of mid-July, there are no conditions for typhoon formation, but they are expected to occur later in the month. Predictions suggest fewer typhoons this year. Zheng also notes the inverse relationship between typhoon generation in the northwest Pacific and hurricanes in the North Atlantic, with their region having more while ours has fewer. As Taiwan faces record high temperatures, Zheng advises on coping strategies and highlights the importance of nighttime rest for relief, warning that nighttime temperatures above 28 degrees Celsius could hinder this cooling effect and impact daytime well-being. Zheng shares insights on Taiwan's summer climate characteristics, humorously describing it as 'hot, very hot, and super hot'. He emphasizes the energy consumption impact of temperature fluctuations on air conditioning use and recommends using fans or air conditioning at night to prevent heat stress accumulation during the day.
