Starting July 1st, Little Liuqiu will start collecting 'Tourism Conservation Fee' from at least 60 NT per person, and tourists will be prohibited from entering the 'Core Area'

Reported 11 months ago

Due to the declining marine resources in Little Liuqiu, Pingtung County Government is implementing various conservation measures starting this July, including collecting a tourism conservation fee, designating a 'Core Area,' and removing the 'Mei's Sea Urchin' and 'Tube Feet Sea Urchin' from conservation targets. The fee is 60 NT per person for the intertidal zones in Sannfuk, Yuchinwei, and Douziping, with exemptions for local residents, children under 3 years old, persons with disabilities, and one accompanying person. To facilitate fee payment, the government has arranged ticket sales at 7-ELEVEN ibon kiosks, valid until November 30th, allowing access to one of the mentioned intertidal zones. The designation of a 'Core Area' adjacent to Douziping aims to protect marine life, and the inclusion of 'Coral' in conservation species signifies efforts to enhance conservation effectiveness amidst declining resources and increased tourism in the region.
