The steel industry is expressing concern over potential carbon fees, with some manufacturers indicating that while rates of 100-150 TWD per ton may be manageable, rates exceeding 300 TWD, particularly if they reach 1,000 TWD, could directly lead to significant annual losses. Despite the Environmental Protection Administration's recent assessment that the economic impact of these fees would be minimal, steel manufacturers argue that increased costs from carbon fees could jeopardize their profitability in an already uncertain market.
