On Thursday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq moved away from record highs as Nvidia's impressive surge paused. The S&P 500 dropped around 0.2% after briefly touching the 5,500 level for the first time, while the Nasdaq Composite fell nearly 0.8%. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose around 0.7%. Nvidia's stock, which recently became the world's most valuable public company, retreated more than 3% on Thursday. Market attention was also on global central banks, with the Swiss National Bank cutting rates and expectations of a Fed cut in the US by September.
