Following legislative amendments, civic groups are considering recalling KMT legislators, in addition to the upcoming recall of Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang, leading to ongoing controversy. KMT Chairman Eric Chu recently stated that with 100,000 votes, a person can be recalled with only 60,000 valid votes, sparking discussions on its fairness. DPP legislator Hong Shenhan slammed the KMT, proposing to amend the law to require a double threshold of approval votes for KMT members compared to DPP members for recalls, criticizing them for finding lame excuses and attempting to unscrupulously raise recall thresholds in the Interior Committee.
