According to SET News on June 18, 2024, due to the vigorous development of convective cloud systems, thunderstorms hit various areas in the afternoon, leading to rapid and heavy rainfall in Keelung City, New Taipei City, and Nantou County. The Water Resources Agency issued flood alerts for 5 regions. The weather pattern on the upcoming day remains similar, with a focus on afternoon heavy rain. Starting from Friday, influenced by high pressure from the Pacific, rainfall will decrease, temperatures will rise significantly, turning into a scorching heatwave with showers concentrated in the afternoon. The European model simulation indicates a probability of a tropical depression or typhoon in the South China Sea next Monday, but its trajectory is expected to move northwest towards Hainan Island and Guangdong rather than directly affecting Taiwan. Temperatures will remain hot and humid in the next week, around 35 degrees Celsius in the north and even hotter in the central and southern regions, with tomorrow's temperatures ranging from 24-36 degrees in different areas.
