The Streaming Innovation Alliance, consisting of major direct-to-consumer services like Netflix and Disney, has expanded by adding six new platforms to its membership. The alliance, formed in September 2023, now includes new members like Demand Africa, FedNet, and In The Black Network, aiming to diversify its offerings with live US Congress coverage and African and Native American storytelling. The coalition advocates for policies benefiting the streaming industry and educates lawmakers on streaming services versus social media platforms, with former Rep. Fred Upton and former acting FCC chair Mignon Clyburn as senior advisers.
