Striking Safran workers in Montreal, who manufacture landing gear components for Airbus and Boeing jets, have proposed a counteroffer to potentially prevent a prolonged strike, as per a union official. The workers are on a seven-day strike and are prepared to extend it if an agreement is not reached. The union is seeking a significant raise, with Safran offering a lower increase. The strike coincides with challenges faced by Airbus and Boeing in meeting production demands due to parts and labor shortages. Airbus has been struggling with output pressure, while Boeing has reduced 787 production due to supplier shortages.
