Strong May Orders for New Class 8 Trucks According to ACT and FTR Data

Research firms FTR and ACT Research reported strong Class 8 vehicle North America net orders for May. FTR's data showed preliminary net orders of 18,900 units, up 25% from April and 37% year on year, while ACT Research reported 23,200 units, an increase of 46% from the previous month and 49% year on year. The market for new trucks is performing above replacement levels, indicating fleets' willingness to invest in new equipment, with signs of growth in Class 8 truck orders despite stagnant freight markets.
