Many young people aspire to work and holiday in Australia to broaden their horizons and earn money, but the reality is harsh with many struggling to find jobs. In a park in Brisbane, foreign young people from Taiwan, Japan, and other countries can be seen queuing for free food provided by volunteer groups. The group mainly serves the homeless and disabled, but recently an increasing number of foreign workers on working holiday visas are seen, including Japanese individuals. The free food handouts, partly donated by local supermarkets and sometimes bought by the group, aim to assist struggling youth, with hopes that they will remember the kindness and treat foreigners kindly when they return to their own countries.
