A review of 32 previous studies reveals that only about half of individuals with sexually transmitted diseases would inform a new partner about their infection before engaging in sexual activity. Fear, misconceptions about protection from condoms, the casual nature of one-night stands, and concerns over relationship status were cited as reasons for nondisclosure. Research highlights the complexity and potential harm of disclosing STIs, emphasizing the need for comprehensive sexual health education to help individuals make informed decisions.
