New research published in Neuropsychologia suggests that women are smarter when on their periods, showing faster reaction times and fewer errors during cognitive tests compared to their luteal phase. This study by researchers at University College London and the Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health found that women felt worse during their periods but performed better than expected. The study points to the role of hormones like progesterone affecting cognitive function, highlighting that women may excel even when feeling their worst.
